COATED NUTS

Dry Roasted (spice coated) nuts are first processed through the cleaning, roasting and blanching stages as described in the salted nut plant.  Now they are passed through a SD coating drum where a special additives distributing system spreads the coating over a wide area of the peanuts while a pulsating liquid spray is applied to bind each fine particle evenly over the surface of each kernel.   Honey, onion, garlic, barbeque and other flavors geared to local tastes can be applied in similar manners.  The liquid binder has to be dried on a specially designed roaster that avoids that the kernels sticking to each other and provide sanitary features for the coatings which usually contain salt.
